Catthi Ly – Fulbright Semi-Finalist

Catthi Ly is a Gates/Cambridge Scholarship Recipient (2022) and Fulbright U.S. Student Program Semi-Finalist (2021) to Vietnam. She is a graduating senior with a Human Biology and Anthropology double major. As the undergraduate student director of Global Health Research, Education and Translation, she led a research project looking at how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted uninsured and low-income families in Orange County. She was also a member of the Deconstructing Diversity Initiative and served as a discussion section facilitator for the UCI Health Equity Contact Tracing Workshop series. She is a member of the Campuswide Honors Collegium, Healing through Humanities, the editorial board of The Scribe, and Phi Beta Kappa. She was a student researcher at the UCI Medical Center’s Neurosurgery Department and designed and currently teaches a UTeach class, “The History and Philosophy of Cancer.” Catthi plans to pursue an M.D/ Ph.D. in medical anthropology.
