Rose oversees the activities of UCI’s Scholarship Opportunities Program, which encourages and supports high-achieving undergraduates and recent alumni in applying for 21 nationally and internationally prestigious, merit-based scholarships. She holds a doctorate from UC Irvine, while her M.A. and B.A. both come from the University of Kansas. Before becoming an Anteater, she was a Research Fellow at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universitaet in Heidelberg, Germany, through a DAAD Research Grant. A strong proponent of higher education, she has taught in multiple departments across the UCI campus. She is also Director of UCI’s chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious honor society.

Theresa brings extensive advising and writing experience to her role as Scholarship Advisor in the Scholarship Opportunities Program. Since 2016, she was an Honors Advisor in UCI’s Campuswide Honors Collegium, of which she herself is an alumna. Before returning to UCI, Theresa was a Writing Center Instructor and a Pre-Health Advisor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison while conducting graduate research on eighteenth-century British poetry and visual culture. As an undergraduate majoring in English with minors in French and History, she participated in the SOP application process for several fellowships, which ultimately led her to the University of Cambridge where she earned a Master’s degree in English Studies. Coming full circle as a SOP Scholarship Advisor, Theresa is excited to work with high-performing Anteaters in achieving their own fellowship ambitions and post-graduation goals.

David has been involved with the fellowship world since his reception of the Fulbright award as a Ph.D student in 2016 where he traveled to Göttingen, Germany, along with his family. David holds a doctorate from Florida State University in Religions of Western Antiquity, an M.A. and M.Div from Abilene Christian University, and a B.A. from Harding University where his primary areas of research included ancient Hebrew manuscripts, wisdom literature, and religion in comics. Before UCI, he served as the Assistant Director of Nationally Competitive Programs at the University of Southern Mississippi where he helped several students apply for and win a variety of national fellowships. Alongside spending time with his family and dog hiking, boogie boarding, or watching Star Trek, David plays blues and jazz guitar, sings, reads comics, and cheers on either Bayern or the Oklahoma City Thunder

Yousif graduated from UCI in June 2022, earning a B.A. in Economics. During his time as a student, he worked as a grammar tutor and SOP student advisor. Completing the Honors Program in Economics, he presented his research in the 2022 UROP Research Symposium and won the School of Social Sciences Honors Thesis Award of 2022. After graduating, Yousif worked in the private industry as an accountant. Returning to UCI as the SOP Administrative Coordinator, he now strives to uphold UCI’s traditional values and professionalism while working to ensure that SOP services reach his peers, the outstanding students of UCI!

Aline is a fourth-year Education Sciences major and aspiring elementary school teacher. Her passion for working with students is reflected in her commitment as a School of Education peer mentor, Viet Student Association leader, swim instructor, and tutor. She is grateful to work at SOP alongside UCI’s brightest students, where she can help her fellow Anteaters pursue their own academic and career goals.

Karina is currently a third-year Language Science and Psychology double major. She is an aspiring speech pathologist in order to work with disabled children. She has a strong passion for writing and helping others. She hopes to use her skills to help other students accomplish their personal and professional goals.

Natalie is a senior studying Psychology and Education Sciences at UC-Irvine. She is also a Freshman Peer Mentor for EDGE Programs at Student Success Initiatives (Division of Undergraduate Education) and a General Assistant at Division of Continuing Education.

As an international student, Natalie has accumulated extensive academic and social advising experiences, with the purpose of encouraging students from different backgrounds and nationalities in fulfilling their ambitious professional goals. As a student advisor at SOP, Natalie strives to put her expertises and insights gained over the years to thoroughly support the incoming Anteaters.

Jun is presently a third year Criminology major. She’s involved in ASUCI EVP as a Communications Director and is the Design Lead for Keebs Club @ UCI. Jun enjoys design, streamlining systems and wants to make sure that information regarding scholarships and advising is accessible to every Anteater. When not in passionate rambles about the newest design trends, Jun is vying for her cat’s attention.

Jolin is a fourth-year Psychological Science Major and Digital Information Systems Minor. She is currently the Marketing Director of the Design at UCI club and was a Product Design Intern at Liferay during the summer of 2022. She hopes to pursue a career in UX/UI design. When she is not designing, she is busy building mechanical keyboards and crafting miniature houses.
