Angel Lira – Fulbright Recipient

Angel Lira is a Fulbright Finalist. Angel is a recent graduate in International Studies and Political Science, and recipient of the School of Social Sciences Order of Merit award. He engaged in research through the Social Sciences Academic Enrichment Program, completed an International Studies Honors Thesis, and served as a peer mentor in DECADE PLUS. Through UCDC, Angel interned for the Internet Education Foundation, advocating for more equitable STEM education in primary schools. Currently, as a Coro Fellow in Public Affairs in Los Angeles, Angel engages in experiential learning about electoral politics, labor, government, the nonprofit sector, and the private sector. This Fall, as a Fulbright U.S. Student, Angel will research the political perceptions of rural youth in Paraguay. After Fulbright, Angel plans to pursue an MA in International Affairs, and become a U.S. Department of State Foreign Service Officer.
