Araceli Serrano – NSF Recipient

Araceli is a graduating senior in Earth System Science with specializations in Oceanography and Hydrology & Terrestrial Ecosystems. Over the past year she has been working under Professor Katherine Mackey for her research on “Evaluating the effects of phytoplankton size and community structure on mercury bioaccumulation in a Southern California coastal lagoon system.” She will be pursuing a PhD in Earth Sciences at UC Santa Cruz under advisor Andrew Fisher with the support of the NSF and Cota Robles fellowships.
