Blaine Valencia – Fulbright Alternate

Blaine is a recent alumni with a double major in Political Science and Film and Media Studies. A member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and recipient of a 2016 UCI Distinguished Anteater Award, Blaine was a part of the Campuswide Honors Program and did research through both UROP and SURP, presenting a selection of his thesis on “Queer Palestinian Representation in Israeli and Western Cinema” at the 2017 UROP Symposium. Blaine served as a student diplomat with the Olive Tree Initiative and worked as a Coordinator for the Orientation Program at UCI. He plans to pursue a Juris Doctor degree and focus on legal issues pertaining to labor, immigration, and development, after which he plans to work for an NGO providing legal aid and migration advocacy.
