Joshua Swank – Fulbright Semi-Finalist

Joshua Swank is a fourth-year political science major and international studies minor at UC Irvine. In 2019, he studied abroad in Jordan, Israel, and the Palestinian Territories which furthered his interest in diplomacy and law. He remains committed to community engagement and local politics. Joshua served on Congresswoman Katie Porter’s Youth Advisory Board and interned for Supervisor Lisa Bartlett to aid county efforts in safeguarding public health. 

During his third year, Joshua completed a 30-page paper analyzing the intersection between race and national identity for the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program. He also interned and conducted research for the UCI Ethics Center. This academic drive contributed to his induction into Phi Beta Kappa and his receiving the Schonfeld Scholarship. Joshua currently serves as an ASUCI Social Science Senator. He plans to attend law school and serve his country in the US State Department as a Foreign Service officer.
