Katia Necoechea Madriz is a Fulbright Finalist. Katia is a graduating senior in Psychology and Education Sciences. A recipient of the UCI Campuswide Leadership scholarship, Katia has served as a mentor, tutor, discussion leader, and researcher. As the Peer Academic Advising Program Coordinator for the School of Social Sciences, she oversees 72 Peer Academic Advisors. These experiences have allowed her to explore different sectors of education, which have sparked her interest in teaching and education policy. Katia aspires to become a high school Spanish teacher, and eventually a principal, to create afterschool programs that help students with their personal, academic, and professional pursuits. This Fall, she will travel to Spain as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant.
