Pratyush Muthukumar – NSF Recipient

Pratyush is a transfer student from California State University Los Angeles and a UCI Alumni Association Scholar in Computer Science. His research experiences include Artificial Intelligence-based traffic monitoring systems for semi-autonomous vehicles and a joint research project by the City of Los Angeles and NASA to predict air pollution and its health effects on
residents. He is currently conducting research on deep reinforcement learning for empathy-based AI with UCI Vice Chancellor for Research Dr. Pramod Khargonekar. Pratyush is also a research student at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory developing SDNs at the exascale in the era of big data, machine learning, and cloud computing. Pratyush plans to pursue graduate school to develop ethical and effective deep reinforcement learning models to increase interconnectivity and altruism in an increasingly AI-augmented society.
