Sarah Mahoney – Fulbright Alternate

Sarah Mahoney is a graduating senior majoring in Anthropology. A 2016 participant in the UC Education Abroad Program, Sarah spent a semester in Kyoto, Japan investigating heritage preservation in her research on kyo-machiya, traditional wooden houses. In 2017, she was awarded a full grant as a National Geographic Young Explorer to continue her research, and she was a visiting researcher at Kyoto University the following summer. Currently, Sarah is actively involved in creating and preserving shodo calligraphy with Beikoku Shodo Kenkyukai and working in production assistance with KPFK 90.7 in Los Angeles.
