Steven Gong is a Donald A. Strauss Scholar. A second-year double major in Human Biology and Economics, he won the Lowell Student Body Leadership Award and has been Intern of the Year for ASUCI, where he has served an At-Large Senator, Chair of COVID-19 Response, and Vice-Chair of Finance. Steven won the Strauss Scholarship for his project to establish the California Health Advocacy Network, an ambassador-based subsidiary of the California Physician’s Alliance, to recruit youth in addressing health coverage disparities throughout California, guided by commitment to the intersection of healthcare and public service and the vision of healthcare as a fundamental human right. Steven aspires to leverage his experiences in healthcare, government, and business and eventually work as a physician-advocate and public servant with the United States Public Health Service.
